A regional energy company operating 12 solar farm installations across 3 provinces needed a centralized platform to monitor real-time power generation, track inverter performance, detect panel degradation, and generate automated carbon offset reports for regulatory compliance and Renewable Energy Certificate (REC) applications.
Artes Solution built an end-to-end monitoring platform that connects to 840+ string inverters and 36 weather stations via Modbus TCP and RS485 protocols. The system processes over 5 million data points daily, calculates real-time generation efficiency against theoretical maximum (Performance Ratio), and automatically identifies underperforming strings for maintenance prioritization.
The integrated carbon reporting module calculates avoided CO2 emissions using grid emission factors from TEİAŞ, generates ISO 14064-compliant reports, and produces REC documentation for the national renewable energy market. The platform saved the client 320+ hours annually in manual reporting and increased overall portfolio yield by 6.2% through faster fault detection.

System Architecture.
Inverter Data Collection
Modbus TCP/RS485 communication with 840+ string inverters from SMA, Huawei, and GoodWe. Custom Raspberry Pi gateways at each site poll inverter registers every 5 seconds, capturing DC/AC power, voltage per string, frequency, and error codes. Data is buffered locally during connectivity interruptions and synced when connection restores.
Weather Station Integration
36 on-site pyranometers, ambient temperature sensors, and wind speed anemometers provide irradiance data for accurate Performance Ratio calculation. The system correlates generation output with solar irradiance to distinguish between weather-related and equipment-related performance losses - enabling targeted maintenance actions.
Performance Analytics
Real-time Performance Ratio (PR), Specific Yield (kWh/kWp), and Capacity Factor calculations per site, zone, and individual string. Automated string-level comparison algorithms flag underperformers exceeding 5% deviation from neighbors, enabling technicians to pinpoint degraded panels, shading issues, or wiring faults within minutes.
Carbon Offset Reporting
ISO 14064-compliant CO2 avoidance calculation using location-based grid emission factors updated annually from TEİAŞ data. Automated monthly, quarterly, and annual carbon reports with audit trails. REC (Renewable Energy Certificate) documentation generation for national and voluntary carbon markets.
Multi-Site Dashboard
Centralized .NET Core web dashboard with portfolio overview, site drill-down, and string-level detail views. Real-time generation counter, revenue tracking based on feed-in tariff rates, and alarm management with SMS/email escalation. Mobile-responsive for field technician access during site inspections.
Automated Reports
One-click generation of investor reports, regulatory filings, and O&M performance summaries. Year-over-year generation comparison, degradation rate analysis, and ROI tracking per installation. Export to PDF, Excel, and API endpoints for integration with corporate financial systems.
